The mission of the Monarch African Research Institute (MARI) is to create and highlight leading research in African management practice and to provide an arena for open and constructive dialogue on issues important to African scholarship and its business community. In carrying out its mission MARI highlights research from doctoral candidates, research fellows and guest of the Institute. A further aspect of the mission is to provide outreach to the African business community to increase awareness and engagement on issues important to the African community.

The MARI was developed in response to the need for a high quality Research Institute focused on the development of new African researchers. Its mandate is to support young, aspiring researchers in obtaining the training and skills required to make an impact on the continent and beyond through the development of new and exciting research and scholarship. All researchers located within Africa or whose research touches on topics relevant to Africa are encouraged to become a part of the MARI-Monarch African Research Institute.

It is the belief of MARI that improved scholarship combined with the support and development for young researchers has the potential to significantly improve the standard of living and create greater social justice in Africa. Using the skills taught within Monarch Business School Switzerland graduates and members of MARI become change agents bringing insights and innovation to problems facing the larger community. MARI believes that positive change begins in the minds of each new researcher.
